WEATHER: We had partly cloudy skies early in the week with the weekend resulting in perfectly clear skies. There was some windy days early with the wind lasting all night during the beginning of the week and tapering off a bit as the week progressed, then at the weekend the wind died to an occasional light breeze.

Most destinations offer you a fishing report or sailfish report. Not many can post an almost only marlin report. This is not to say we do not catch species such as tuna, in fact we have very good tuna, wahoo as well as bottom fish.

Florida Keys Tarpon Report

Greetings from Tarpon World:

We arrived here in Marathon (Florida Keys) on Tuesday evening and then moved into the same rental house as last year. On the 15th I launched my Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman "Fly Reel" , put her in the slip, and rigged that boat for Tarpon season.

Happy Easter

I hope you and your family are having a wonderful holiday, my mother, sister, and brother in law are here spending Easter with me in North Carolina. Early tomorrow morning Heather and Ken will head home to Virginia while Mom and I will head to the Florida Keys. We will arrive in Marathon on Tuesday evening and my Tarpon season begins on April 16th.

WEATHER: Scattered clouds were overhead this week almost every day, but they managed to disappear at the end of the week. We had strong winds almost every day that started about noon and blew until sunrise. Daytime highs were in the mid 80’s and the nighttime lows were around the low 70’s.

North Carolina Shad Fishing Report
April 2, 3, 4, 2009

Greetings from North Carolina:

This is my second year fly fishing on the Roanoke River in Weldon NC during the annual Hickory Shad migration. This weekend is the annual outing of the Cape Lookout Fly Fishers club and this year close to twenty club members were spotted catching these poor man's Tarpon.

WEATHER: We had partly cloudy skies for most of the week but there was enough sun for everyone to stay happy. No rain came with the clouds we did get, but I heard there was a little up in the mountains. Our daytime highs remained in the mid 80’s and our nighttime lows in the mid 60’s. The winds stayed down for the most part and the wind we did get seemed to happen later in the afternoon.

Fishing Nicaragua: Six miles northwest of Costa Paraiso Print E-mail

Destination Fish After a three mile run and coming into about 200 feet of water, we decided to deploy the spread. I wanted to mix it up a bit as the country had been mixed up a bit a few days prior as Sandinista Daniel Ortega was elected President. I was looking for something in the tackle bag and came across a black and red Islander.
