Marlena - Summer 2007 144-foot Trinity Yacht
For a privileged few worldwide, Marlena has laid her claim as the essence of yachting perfection. New owners completed a major retrofit in 2005, with an updated interior and an extended reach to 144 feet.

144-foot Trinity Yacht

At nearly 30 feet wide, her shear breadth alone demands attention. Today, Marlena spends the majority of time complementing the Monaco coastline. But make no mistake; she is a true sportfish, crisscrossing the Mediterranean in pursuit of the world’s greatest game fish while pampering her fortunate passengers in lavish luxury.

Marlena’s sleekprofile unmistakably screams of sexy, classic convertible lines. With expansive tackle storage and a complete rigging center, her battle station means all business. Enveloped in rich teak at the center of the transom, a huge windowed live-well provides the perfect finishing touch. Anglers remain shaded by a towering superstructure – part of the retrofit – which encapsulates nothing other than a spa. What better way to unwind after a long day of battling billfish than to meet for celebratory cocktails in the hot tub.

Slightly closer to the heavens on the next upper level, the captain explores the distant horizon for worthy adversaries from an open air, state-of-art command center. No tower is necessary as the view from four stories above the cobalt blue sea is spectacular.

Along with twin 65kw Northern Lights gensets capable of powering a small city, the pair of Paxman 3,500-horsepower power plants occupying her massive air-conditioned engine room is fed by nearly 10,000 gallons of fuel. Seven-thousand horsepower propels the aluminum hull andsuperstructure to an astonishing 31 knots. Even with the weight from the added extension, she continues to hold her own alongside many of today’s lighter, modern sportfishers. At a more efficient 12 knots, Marlena can cruise nearly 2,000 nautical miles in search of her intended quarry from any of five helm stations – extraordinary range for a super-yacht of this stature. Sixteen-foot stabilizers – retractable underwater wings – ensure that guests are treated to silky smooth expeditions in even rough sea conditions.

Marlena completely blurs the lines on just how luxurious a sportfish yacht should be. With all the fish-fighting action taking place directly at the stern, her interior mesmerizes guests with shear opulent grandeur. The striking art deco – also part of the retrofit – includes an enormous salon and lavish full-size bar highlighted by a spiral staircase that leads to an outdoor sky lounge and the primary bridge. Rich, earthy-toned veneers, ivory-trimmed sculptures and original works of art – including a Picasso - enhance the décor. Hidden from guests, her galley rivals those found in the finest restaurants in Rome. Also down below, an expansive master suite spans the entire beam of the ship with walk-in closets, his and her dressing rooms to either side of a huge bathing area, a semi-private office and a quiet sitting room – it’s all here. Four luxurious guest suites accessed off a single passageway, an upper-deck captain’s suite and aft crew quarters for six complete the accommodations.

In an age when luxury reigns supreme and bigger is often better, every inch of Marlena’s 144 feet stands unrivaled. After only one glimpse, it’s easy to conclude that she may never be dethroned as the world’s most stunning sportfish.
