It’s a shame that adventure-seeking anglers now have to travel to such distant foreign destinations to enjoy such incredible fishing.

It’s a shame that adventure-seeking anglers now have to travel to such distant foreign destinations to enjoy such incredible fishing. I can only suspect that decades ago, domestic fisheries were at a level where coastal anglers around this great country never considered having to travel halfway around the globe in search of bonefish or blue marlin. It’s a shame our growing population’s hunger for fresh seafood has persuaded domestic commercial fishing fleets to literally deplete nearly every domestic game fish population. Striped bass, flounder, tuna, sharks, dolphin, swordfish, mackerel, grouper, they’ve all taken a tremendous beating and continue to get hammered on a daily basis. What most anglers around the United States don’t understand is that forage fish species – which are currently being depleted to near extension for nothing more than pet food, fertilizer and cosmetics – are just as important as the game fish and need equal protection. No fish food, no fish! Commercial fishing fleets are even harvesting Sargassum weed – prime habitat and nursery grounds for pelagic species and countless juveniles. Maybe someone should print a magazine titled, Stay Away From Our Fish!
