Little St. Simons Island, Georgia
One of the East Coast’s best kept secrets, Little St. Simons Island is one of a string of undeveloped barrier islands that stretch for 70 miles between Brunswick and Savannah, Georgia. This section of the Georgia coast is perhaps the largest contiguous portion of the Atlantic shore left in a relatively natural state. As important as the islands are, the expansive salt marshes that separate them from the mainland are one of the world’s most productive ecosystems.

This section of the Georgia coast is perhaps the largest contiguous portion of the Atlantic shore left in a relatively natural state. Known to many as the “nursery of the sea,” this rich estuarine system, combined with the pristine setting, presents a unique saltwater fishing opportunity.
Welcoming anglers since 1979, The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island offers guests – never more than 30 at any given time - rare access to this promising fishery. Local waters abound with red drum, sea trout and other game fish. In addition to fly-fishing, the Lodge offers surf-casting for redfish and light tackle spin-casting is also productive. All equipment and gear is complimentary for guests’ use.
After a day of fishing, or any of the many other activities the Island has to offer, guests gather before dinner in the Hunting Lodge to relax and share stories of the one that did not get away. Built in 1917, the Hunting Lodge is reminiscent of an Adirondack lodge, complete with cozy fireplace and furnishings. With an emphasis on fresh local seafood and regional specialties, chefs lure even the most diehard angler away from the water into the dining room.
