Fly Fishing In Canada

Trophy Brook Trout and Pike on a Fly Rod? Oh Yeah!

Many of our guests love to fish with fly tackle...and ask us if there is fly fishing opportunities at our lodges and outposts. And we like to tell them, “The fish don’t care!” The only thing to bear in mind is that tackle and fly selection for trout streams in the U.S. may be little underpowered for the Canadian fly-fishing experience. After all you will be catching Pike that could weigh 20 pounds and Brook Trout in the 20-25 inch category.

For Brook Trout anglers, our Albany River destinations are world class. In the last week of August 2007, we invited a half dozen renowned fly anglers to our Miminiska Lodge to fish with a select group of fly anglers and the photo slide show above says it all. Those experienced and knowledgeable Fly Anglers are listed below and their E-mail and phone contact information is at their websites. They would all be happy to tell you more about their experience with us and about the remarkable Albany River Area fishery.

You may also click here to listen to the Podcast about the late August 2007 adventure.

Both Gary and Peggy Kokaisel have scored some great trophy pike while in Canada, and have prepared a trip packing list that will help you prepare for a trophy pike adventure.
