Your Guide to Fly Fishing the Remote Areas of the World
Pescador Solitario is Spanish for Solitary Angler and the name means everything. We do not like crowds! I began saltwater fly-fishing about eighteen years ago, I have dedicated the last fourteen years to finding the next great undiscovered fly-fishing destinations.

Mexico - Chetumal Bay
Chetumal Bay is located near the small fishing village of Xcalak, Quintana Roo, Mexico, about 8 miles north of Ambergris Cay, about 150 miles south of Ascension Bay, and eight miles north of the Belize Border. The excellent fishing is found on the bonefish and permit flats of Chetumal Bay, Additionally, mangrove ringed inland lagoons provide small tarpon and snook, and ocean-side fishing is available with more permit and bones on turtle grass flats. Chetumal Bay is the primary fishery and the boat run to the most productive flats is generally 20 to 30 minutes. There are a few locations that take 45 minutes or more to reach.

Alaska - Painter Creek Lodge
Painter Creek Lodge, in operation since 1982, is located in the remote wilderness of the Alaska Peninsula. It is 350 air miles from Anchorage and 95 miles south of King Salmon, Alaska. The lodge is accessible only by air and surrounded by the Alaska Peninsula Wildlife Refuge and the Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve. The Peninsula is only 50 miles wide in this area, assuring sea bright fish in the King Salmon River and Painter Creek.

Argentina II - Laguna Larga
Laguna Larga lodge is located in the province of Chubut, Argentina in the middle of Los Alerces National Park. Imagine a pristine, remote setting on the large lake Laguna Larga, that is only 45 minutes away from the city of Esquel. Los Alerces National Park is a park of 2,630 square kilometers along the Argentine border with Chile, best known for the alerce (lahuan) trees (Fitzroya cupressoides) from which the park takes its name. The National Park has the largest alerce forest of Argentina. Alerce is one of the longest-living trees in the world; some in the park are around 3,000 years old, with many of them over 1,000 years. With the fly fishermen of the world the park is now famous for the a complex lake system and plethora of trout streams. You will be fishing the Rio Rivadavia, Rio Stange, Rio Grande or Futaleufu, Rio Frey, Rio Arrayanes, Arroyo Pescado, and the smaller Nant Y Fall and Desaguader Y Corintos. Of course, out the front door is Laguna Larga.

Costa Rica - Manzanillo
On the Caribbean Cost of Costa Rica just north of the Panama Border is the small Dolphin Lodge, but we call it Tarponville. The facility is on Playa Manzanillo and south of the nearest Costa Rican community of any size, Puerto Viejo. South of the lodge is the Sixaola River that forms the border between Costa Rica and Panama. The mouth of this river is one of the many fishing grounds. The southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica's Limon province is one of the nation's most beautiful regions, with magnificent beaches, lush jungles, quiet rivers, marvelously friendly people - most of whom speak English - and an abundance of tropical birds, monkeys and other wildlife. The region is protected by the Manzanillo-Gandoca National Wildlife Refuge.
